Seeking new position as a Risk/Safety Manager with a construction or manufacturing company. Extensive and diverse experience with degrees in Health Science and medicine. I have solid knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, Risk Management, and most insurance programs (Work Comp, Auto, GL, PL, construction defects, and Recovery). Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks; and ability to inspire others to perform and accomplish assigned goals.

 

Health and Safety:

Involved in Safety since 1979, certified CHMM, OSHT (Outreach trainer for 10 hour and 30 hour); Excellent knowledge of CFR 1910 and 1926.Completion of several certificates in Safe Driving, Drug Safety for Supervisors, Transportation Safety, DOT/FMCR rules. Participate in OSHA, MSHA, DOT audits, monitor OSHA/MSHA logs, CDL drivers, medical certificates, MVR (CDL and non-CDL), hearing conservation, and medical monitoring for exposure to heavy metals, chemicals, noise exposures. Working knowledge of Hazmat and Hazwoper. Sucessfully reduced OSHA recordables from a high of 32 in 2005 (7.69%) to 9 in 2011 (2.32%); Lost times from 21 to 1 for 2011 (had zero in 2008). Pre-Con, JSA experience with CDOT, and several metro area counties/cities. Accident/injury investigations to document Root Cause Anaylisi and proceed with recovery as appropriate. Classroom and construction site safety training to include employees and sub-contractors.

 

Workers’ Comp:

Reduced WC costs from $1.5 Million in PY 2005 to $150K in PY 2006, and kept costs below $220K for 5.5 years. Reduced DART rates from 7.96% in 2005 to 2.33% in 2009, then 0% for 2010.

Effectively reduced EMR from a high of 1.21 each year to 0.63 for PY 2011. Successfully submitted and had accepted Cost Containment 3 year certifications for 2008 and 2011. Skilled return to work and medical case manager.

Rewrote corporate Safety Manual, taught annual OHSA/MSHA training classes, and conducted OSHA 10 hour training. Reestablished a safety culture that was deemed very successful by insurance carriers (Zurich and Travelers).

While working for insurance carriers managed catastrophic WC claims, paticipate in ALJ hearing and settlements, assisted in Medicare Set Asides, settled claims in the $425K - $750K range, worked on settling a catastrophic claim valued at $4.2 Million.
